Fertility, IVF & Pregnancy Acupuncture Treatment

Acupuncture is a simple and effective way to naturally improve fertility. Fertility is in many ways an expression of optimal health.

Optimal health is all about achieving this balance between yin and yang.  This doesn't mean running a marathon every weekend or even spending hours in the gym daily. The right amount of exercise and relaxation is important. But it does mean getting sufficient good quality sleep, a healthy wholefood diet not excluding any foods except the processed foods, excess of sugar, refined carbohydrates, alcohol and stimulants. Also though we eat well we may need extra food sourced, pesticide free, vitamins such as B-complex, Zinc, Iron, Vitamin C,D, Omega 3 Oils etc.

Above all fertility is about  maintaining the balance between yin and yang in all our life.

For men and women acupuncture helps by strengthening gamete (male sperm and female egg), embryo and endometrium quality and quantity whilst reducing improving conception rates by reducing stress, clearing obstructions, improving blood flow, tonifying kidneys and the liver, nourishing blood.

Most clients are surprised at how effectively menstrual cycles are regulated with acupuncture treatment…

Fertility Acupuncture

Acupuncture  helps untangle the  web of symptoms from both partners that combine to reduce fertility, in order to increase chances of  bringing a  healthy conception to term

How Does Fertility Acupuncture work?

Traditionally women come to Acupuncture for fertility enhancement and support. However it takes two to make a baby so it's ideal for both partners to come for an assessment together.  Fertility Acupuncture gives a holistic path to natural fertility. Fertility is an expression of optimal health. 25% of infertility is unexplained but roughly half of men and woman have experienced infertility. and sought help at some stage. It is often the combination of factors from both men and women  which can create difficulties with conceiving a baby.

How acupuncture can help fertility?

Regular Acupuncture helps to balance hormones, reduce stress, improve blood circulation and blood quality which directly impacts the ovaries, womb and endometrium.

Many studies have also indicated that acupuncture helps reduce stress and anxiety surrounding fertility, regulate hormones, menstruation and ovulation and can help improve sperm quality and endometrium thickness.

What to expect from a treatment?

At Acupuncturelondon we provide a holistic overview of lifestyle factors, menstrual and fertility journey and history.

In practical terms there are a number of markers of fertility health which will be assessed during the consultation and assessment process.  During the first session an overview of the health history of the mother primarily will be the focus before the first treatment.

Rachel will use visual, verbal & touch diagnosis - pulse and hara etc  together with your health assessment to determine the selection of points to access chi.

Men's fertility

Male Fertility is highly important to consider and factor in whenever considering optimising fertility or if deciding to go through IVF.

Sperm counts, motility and morphology have all declined in the last 50 years which is having a dramatic effect on fertility rates. Acupuncture is a simple and effective way to naturally improve fertility.

Factors such as having a high fever, exposure to prescription drugs, even antibiotics, smoking alcohol, exposure to environmental chemicals, drugs, steroids, smoking and cannabis use all have detrimental effects on men's sperm counts though sperm counts improve 6-12 months after giving up.

How does Acupuncture Improve IVF success rates?

A recent study into ART(including I.V.F) Acupuncture indicates a 65% increase in fertility following acupuncture treatment.

Acupuncture has been shown in numerous trials to improve success rates for couples undergoing ART. IVF Fertility treatment.  This is in many ways such as improving and harmonising hormones, regulating women’s menstrual cycle and improving gamete egg and sperm.  Acupuncture helps improve IVF, FET, ICSI Success rates by strengthening and improving chances of success. In  Diminished Ovarian Reserve  (DOR) Acupuncture especially high does ie greater than 10 points can improve success rates by  regulating sex hormones and increasing  AFC. There is evidence to suggest that  if given early enough, Acupuncture can improve both egg and sperm quality.

How to prepare for IVF?

To prepare with pre-conception care  and to optimise your chances of Successful ART/IVF Preparation, 3-6 months before you start IVF is preferable. The earlier the better.  If that is not possible it is important  to start receiving acupuncture as soon as possible to prepare you with Preconception Care so that you are in your best possible fertility health before starting Assisted Reproductive treatment or IVF.

Try not to move house, start a new career or have some big life change when preparing for IVF or at least try to do this before starting treatment.

Acupuncture & Complementary therapies, Good Sleep and a healthy work life balance are all helpful but receiving regular Acupuncture is one of the best ways to improve, optimise and maintain fertility.

How do the treatments work?

The first stage is the in-depth assessment initiated by the fertility questionnaire where you can share where you are in your fertility journey.

Normally it's the woman who comes to Acupuncture first but it's also really helpful to see both partners as it takes two to make a baby.

Treatment plan is made to support the different stages of IVF from downregulation to stimulation, up to egg collection and embryo transfer. Acupuncture is helpful at this time and afterwards.

Each treatment plan is flexible to fit the needs of each couple.  The Acupuncture improves the chances that a successful embryo will implant and result in a healthy pregnancy and birth.
